A few small cleaning steps making a big difference…

In this article we have put together some quick (not more than 2 minutes each) and easy steps that would make a big impact on maintaining a clean home.

Tools needed: Microfiber cloth or towel/paper, squeegee and 2 minutes time for each task. The first are easy to find in most shops, the latter may be invested at the end of each task.

·         Kitchen:

o   Hob: After using the hob, wipe down all surrounding surfaces with a damp microfiber cloth. (more Tips about cleaning the Hob)

o   Utensils: Once done with cooking it is a good idea to wash the utensils straight away but you might as well leave them soaking in the sink. (More Tips about Cleaning Utensils)

o   Oven: Once done baking and the oven has cooled down wipe with a microfiber cloth. (more Tips about oven cleaning)

o   Kitchen Top: Wipe down the surface as well as splash-back. (more Tips about kitchen cleaning)

o   Sink: To avoid white spots appearing around your sink try wiping with a fairly dry cloth the sink, tap and surface around the sink. No need for proper clean using materials. (more Tips about cleaning a sink)

o   The Floor: Do not forget that when frying grease splats may cover not only the area around the hob but might get to the floor as well. Wipe the floor using a piece of kitchen paper, dispose of it straight away. (more Tips about cleaning the floor)

·         Bathroom/Toilet:

o   Toilet: Once done using the toilet take a piece of paper and wipe the top surface of the toilet pan. Dispose of it straight away. (more Tips about cleaning a toilet)

o   Sink: When using the sink in the bathroom it is often that water splashes all around, once dry it will leave white spots. Using a paper towel or fairly dry cloth wipe the surface and dispose for washing or in the bin. (more Tips about cleaning a sink)

o   Shower Cabin: Once you are done taking a shower, using a squeegee or a dry cloth, wipe the sower cabin and surface. This will greatly reduce the white spots that appear once it is dry. (more Tips about cleaning a shower)

o   Bath: After taking a bath using a damp cloth wipe the inner side of the bath. Deposits of soap or bath minerals will be easily removed while still wet. Dispose of cloth or leave for washing. (more Tips about cleaning a bath)

o   Mirror: Splats on the mirror attract a lot of attention, using a fairly dry cloth, paper towel or even toilet paper wipe the mirror after brushing teeth or shaving. (more Tips about cleaning a mirror)

·         Dining Room:

o   Dining:After eating avoid piling all dishes and leaving them in a corner. Those will dry quickly and make it hard to wash afterwards. Dispose of food parts and soak in the sink or simply wash under the tap and leave in the dishwasher.

o   Dining Table:  Avoid leaving the dining table dirty especially any food leftovers lying around on top. This will greatly increase the chance of having to battle with mice or cockroaches in future.

·         Living Room:

o   Shelves and storage units: Although it is often we use those items along with TV and TV Stand, DVD and DVD stand as well as top surfaces on shelves are still is particularly attractive to dust. Quickly run a feather duster on top regularly to avoid dust building up.

o   Tidying: To prevent getting back from work to find a mess try allocating a place for the items around your living room: Remote controls, glasses, magazines, newspapers, keys laptop, etc. After using any item put it back in its place. This process should not take you more than a minute to complete.
